Bill to Ban CBDCs Gains Traction
House Bill 525 was passed in Hawaii in January 2023 that allows the alteration of state law pertaining to money. The new language added allows for the use of electronic money that can be programmed and controlled without consent of both parties involved in transactions.
This same kind of legislation has been passed in numerous states across the country and is the groundwork to begin implementing central bank controlled digital currency (CBDC).
CBDCs threaten our privacy and autonomy, creating greater control over how and when we spend money. However, some good news: Republican Tom Emmer entered a new Bill entered in Congress that seeks to ban retail use of CBDCs in our country.
The CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act has gained support from many members of Congress. Let's lobby our Hawaii Representatives to support this Bill to protect our freedom and privacy.
